About

I'm a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and all-round music lover based in the Midlands.

I was first exposed to music playing euphonium in brass and wind bands, along with a very confused diet of classical, prog rock, jazz, and heavy metal. Inevitably, I had to have a go at everything, so I picked up bass and guitar at age 16.

I graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Music from the University of Salford – winning the award for 'Best in Music, Class of 2013', the 'Elgar Howarth Composition Shield', and (as part of the 4tune Tubas Quartet) the 'Anne Welsh Memorial Prize' for ensemble performance.

I'm a composer and songwriter, with experience arranging, writing and recording music of a wide array of genres. I was fortunate enough to win the inaugural Fodens Composition Competition in 2014. The winning piece, 'Aurora Borealis', subsequently went on to be performed as part of the Allan Withington International Conducting Summer School, and at the Birmingham Symphony Hall – a performance that would later be broadcast on BBC Radio 2's 'Listen to the Band' programme.

With over 15 years of experience playing live, I've played in some wildly differing settings. I've enjoyed playing in pit orchestras and professional function bands, and even got the opportunity to travel the world, spending 3 years playing on cruise ships. I happily take on session work also, providing bass for various recordings – the most surreal of which being the Teletubbies' 2021 album, 'Ready, Steady, Go!' (no seriously!)

Until recently, I played bass, sung clean vocals and wrote for Derby-based tech-metal outfit, From Her Ashes. During 2023, I filled the role of touring bass player for New Wave of Classic Rock maestros, These Wicked Rivers, and in recent years have had the pleasure of working with function bands such as The Pedaltones (Cheshire) and Blue Lion Band (UK).
